Women Spaces Africa
Founded in Kenya in 2017, Women Spaces Africa is a women-led organization working to dismantle the structural inequalities that deny girls with disabilities their right to education, safety, and self-determination. They utilize feminist and community-rooted strategies to challenge child marriage and intersecting gender injustices in Kilifi, Kenya.
With their Changemakers grant, WSA will nurture feminist peer mentors, facilitate transformative dialogues with religious and community power-holders, create affirming and accessible spaces for out-of-school girls with disabilities, and support teenage mothers with disabilities to reclaim their right to education.

FROM WOMEN SPACES AFRICA
We feel honored and privileged to have been selected for the Changemakers grant by the Girls First Fund. This acknowledgement upholds the importance of our work with girls and young women with disabilities, and strengthens our commitment to ending child marriage and advancing the rights of this constituent.
The grant presents us with renewed motivation and provides crucial support that will enable us to expand our impact, amplify community-led solutions in Kilifi, Mombasa and Kwale County, and ensure that more girls with disabilities are supported, and able to reach their full potential. It will enhance our presence in key advocacy spaces and deepen our impact by advancing the rights, voices, and leadership of girls with disabilities, ensuring they receive the protection and opportunities they deserve. It will also strengthen our feminist, community-rooted work to dismantle the systems that enable child marriage and to advance the bodily autonomy, rights, and leadership of girls with disabilities.
We envision a coastal region where girls with disabilities are not hidden, silenced, or married off, but instead are recognized as powerful agents of change.
