Puja Roy

Program Advisor – India

Puja works in Jharkhand state in India, supporting our partner organizations to address child, early and forced marriages and related issues. Her work is focused on grant-making, mentoring and accompaniment, and capacity development of our partners in Jharkand. She also networks and builds relationships with other stakeholders at the regional and national levels.

Puja is a gender and women’s rights professional from Mumbai, India, with over 30 years of experience in the gender and development sector. She has spent her career focusing on women’s and children’s rights in the evolving context of development and social justice.

Puja has worked with various organizations, mainly in South Asia, in grantmaking, monitoring, evaluation, learning and capacity development of partner organizations. Her main expertise is in promoting a feminist approach to planning, evaluation, and learning. She is deeply committed to ending gender-based violence, promoting gender justice and enabling feminist leadership among women and girls.

Puja has published articles and contributed chapters on sexual harassment, socially sanctioned gender-based violence, and sexual and reproductive health and rights to numerous publications.

She holds an MA degree in Social Work from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai.
